Holiday over

Posted on July 26, 2008

I’ve just left Borth on the day the local music festival was starting featuring in the Alabama 3 and am sat in my bedroom with the window open listing to Wolvestock at my local park drifting on the summer breeze and wondering where it all went wrong.

You see Wolvestock started out as a folk festival in the widest sense and the headliners for the first two where Chumbawamba and Ozric Tentacles both bands I really loved backed by some wonderfully eceletic stuff including my favourite folkies The Oysterband. Then somebody else took over the running and it’s now the largest free country music festival in the country accepting both Country and Western music and according to the program notes bands are invited and requests to perform are not accepted because the organiser has a very strict definition of Country and Western that he won’t deviate from. What this seems to mean is arseholes with spankly blouses and pink ten gallon hats are acceptable be Jonny Cash would be turned away at the gates because you can’t line dance to it.

Where did it all go wrong for Wolvestock. Bastards.
